Alliance Overhaul

| In the coming days, we will see a good portion of updates to the alliance system. Here are some of the planned updates:
- Request System: Right now, the alliances are made so that anyone can join an alliance, then take out resources and leave. After this update, players will submit requests to join an alliance or get resources. This way, players can't go around and get all the resources the alliances have. And only select players will be allowed to enter an alliance. - Leaders: I think that having a total of 4 leaders in the alliance will be sufficient for right now, and I will consider adding up to 10 leaders later on. I will be modifying the way you choose leaders, going from a text box to a drop down list, to make it easier for picking leaders. Leaders will be able to see and reply to requests given by themselves and other players/members. - Ranking: The bigger of the updates will be the ranking system. Currently, the alliance with the most members is rank one, and goes down from there. That will be changing to match the members' stats. In addition to the overall members' stats as part of the ranking system, alliances will also be judged on how their rating is. - Rating: Alliances will have ratings that are the result from their battles against other alliances. The rating system will be based on the standard ELO Rating System, customized to meet the needs of the alliances. It should be mostly balanced towards good and bad alliances. More will be explained below in the attacking update. - Attacking: Alliances will be able to attack each other and steal resources. To keep the collateral damage to a low, some implementations will be taken. First, only a portion of resources will be available to take in battle. This will most likely be 50% at most. Secondly, to avoid boosting and constant attacking for first place, alliances will only be able to attack another alliance ONCE every 24 hours. This way, an alliance won't attack the same alliance over and over to boost up their rank for the end of the month. Hopefully this will encourage alliances to attack each other often, but still prevent large ratings. - Tournament: At the end of the age, probably the last week in the age, the top X tournaments will be chosen and thrown into a tournament. The X will end up being 8 or 16, and could be as high as 64 alliances. The tournament will progress similarly to the tournaments in the game: The stats will be totaled up for each member, then the alliance with the highest number of stats will advance. These rewards will transfer over to the next age, so I encourage you to participate in alliances! That's it for right now, I think these changes will make the alliance system a greater part of the game. Also, be on the lookout for a hopeful site layout change, which will make mobile users have a better time on the site. |

| Just another update for all of you! I have decided to get Donations out of the way first, so people could donate if they wanted to. Some of the features of Donating include:
Tips for the game, Formula for each stat, a list of artifacts, a calculator to let you see how your stats can progress, and a page to exchange turns for skill points (if you are feeling lazy about attacking). I'll have another update posted when donations are ready to go. Currently, there is no automated system for donating and getting status yet, so you will have to message me with the email that you used and how much you donated, just to confirm that it was you. Also, I have changed the second chapter of missions to make it a bit easier. My goal was to have multiple chapters of missions, and each chapter be a step up from the last (until later on). However, I skipped the second set of constructs, when I meant to have those in chapter two. Cloos_2008 found that and I have corrected it. In addition, a few members pointed out hat two players (Tarvos and Skeith) have accumulated an impossible number of workers this early on. I've looked into the matter and could find no evidence of how they got those high numbers. All of the code is okay and I have tested it to make sure. My only ideas were that they had high rewards from the tournament (which they did not), had high farming from day one (their farming is low and would be hard to get up so high), or they somehow managed to use gold instead of food to purchase warriors (which is impossible). I have asked them to deplete some of their workers and other excess units to be fair to other players. That is all for now, keep playing and enjoying the game! |
